Spring / Summer Trends
Footwear trends this spring/summer 08/09 are more edgy and designer inspired than ever before! Thanks to the overseas influences such as "The Fashion Channel" and "Sex in the City", Australian girls are becoming more fashion "aware" and this summer we will see designer footwear trends from international markets translate to Australian stores. Key new trends are..
"Warrior Queen"The gladiator sandal is by far the most prominent look of this summer! This trend has been threatening to be big for a couple of years, but it’s not until now that this look has really struck a chord with designers! First seen by Dolce & Gabbana, many other designers are now following their influence. The main theme here is a Bohemian come Tribal Gladiator look. Whether your style is flat sandals like Cleopatra by Anne Michelle (pictured top right) $40. Sky scraping designer heels or wedges.. like Waiger available in black, husk or cognac leather (pictured right) or Wave by Siren. Or sophisticated gladiator inspired heels for night, like Pixie by Siren in bronze/pewter (pictured below right) - and soon available black/brandy and cream leather. The gladiator look will be on offer in all categories at Shoe Show this spring/summer. Gladiators can be matched with many different outfits, all the way from flirty skirts to jeans and even formal dresses for an ultra fashionable, sexy look.
“Shooting Up”“Shoots”, or shoe-boots as the name suggests are a cross between a shoe and a bootie. We saw the Boy meets Girl theme in winter, and this look is becoming slightly more opened up for summer with the introduction of the “shoot”. We love Centre by Siren available in black or tan leather (pictured below right) and Celini in black patent leather. Both styles feature the Chloe inspired cone heel.. a "must have" for the fashion conscious woman. Sabatino in black or brown faded patent is also well worth a look at $80. And there are more Siren "shoots" arriving soon! Wear with 3/4 pants or slim pants for a distinctly new season look.
"Dizzy Heights""The higher the heels the closer to God" they say of this summer trend. Platforms and wedges will be in high demand. Pictured right from Tony Bianco, classic peep toes Sonja on a wood stacked wedge, available in tan or latte patent leather. We also love versatile wedges Winton and Willette by Pierre Fontaine $80. And comfy casual wedges just arrived in store starting from as little as $40. When it comes to platforms – anything goes, hidden or detached platforms will be equally prominent, the higher the better! Don't go passed classic platform sandals like Carabelle (pictured right) $80, available in black or tan leather. You'll wear them all summer long! Or look ultra funky and fashionable wearing platforms like "Adelina" (pictured right), arriving soon at Shoe Show. Basic by No Shoes! in black and fuchsia patent is also a summer platform winner for the fun loving girl with attitude, just $50.
“Floral Fetish”Floral fabrics and details are here to stay for Spring/Summer. A fun and bright way to convert a Plain Jane outfit into a summer statement. Flowers, Blooms, Buds and Blossoms are all appearing on footwear in the season’s brightest colours! Katlyn by Zoom pictured above right is a beautiful choice and comes in a range of colour combinations. Perfect for the Spring Racing Carnival! And we think sweet jiffy style ballets Kaska by Misano are also irresistible in black or beige.
“Feminine Flaunting”Body exposure in clothing this season will be with grace and subtlety with sheer, translucent fabrics and layers of flowing fabrics. Compliment this look with feminine shoes like Beeba by Bonbons in metallic leather. Or ruffled or bejeweled flats like Stone by Misano $60.
"T-bars are back!"T-bars in heels and flats will be big, with the most popular styles being something with a point of difference. For evening Salomeh by Pierre Fontaine (pictured right) is a sparkling choice. Now available in silver and black satin at Shoe Show. Or for day, Dollar by Tony Bianco in black or tan leather on an chunky polished wooden heel is must see. And Jimmy Choo inspired diamond studded t-bar flats Sura pictured right, available in black, bronze or pewter, can be worn night or day $60.
“Electric Colour”With black and tan expected to be big this season, we will also see a surge of neon colours in footwear. Orange, Yellow, Fuchsia, Red, Violet and Cobalt will all make an appearance in footwear. The ruffled leather t-bars in fuchsia pictured left, arriving soon at Shoe Show. Summer is always big for colour and this season is no different.
New season styles now arriving in store and online each week at Shoe Show!
